Darwin to Edith Falls

Taking the opportunity of a 'rest' day in Kununurra to catch up with this blog.

So the 5 days of R&R ended up being just just 4 days for me. For M & U – only 3. Still we got lots done and even managed to do a couple of touristy things.

The bikes were attended to. The Super 10 had an oil change and a new front tyre fitted. The VStrom had an oil change and the new tyre we had carried from Mt Isa fitted to the rear. Marco also fitted a throttle lock. The Ninja had an oil change and arrangements were made for a new rear tyre to be available in Broome. Ursala has also arranged for a throttle lock like mine to be sent to the post office in Broome.

Jock had two days off, so was able to assist with rides to and from the motorcycle service centre, as well as give us a guided tour about Darwin. We managed to have a look at the museum on the foreshore, as well as attend the Thursday evening markets at Mindil Beach.

We were well looked after by J & L and had a pleasant relaxing time. Lots of good food and conversation.

Picked up Celeste from the airport on Friday. She and Lesley will be following us down to Kununurra and the Bungle Bungle's in Lesley's 4WD.

Friday M & U headed off to Litchfield NP, while I hit the road on Saturday to meet them back at Edith Falls just north of Katherine. We were all agreed that we would take 2 easy days to do the Katherine to Kununurra stretch, while Celeste & Lesley would make the entire trip from Darwin to Kununurra in 2 days with and overnight in Katherine.

Got to Edith Falls by mid afternoon after a leisurely start. M & U were already there. Another hot day so it was good to be able to have another swim at this remarkable place.
