Day 3 - Omarama -> Lake Pukaki -> Lake Ohau -> Omarama -> Lindal Pass -> Cromwell

Oil check & refuel before riding to Lake Pukaki for lunch. Stopped at Twizel to pick up hot smoked salmon. Knee deep in tourists and the ubiquitous white (maggot) campervans.

Weather not to bad. Fine but breezy with rain squalls on the mountains.
Lunch on the shores of Lake Pukaki at the Mt Cook lookout. Unfortunately, mountains shrouded in cloud and rain squalls.
Back towards Omarama with a diversion to Lake Ohau for coffee. Bike decided to have 'rest' as I was making a three point turn on slippery pine needles. Only damage was to my ego as I needed help to lift it back up.
Afternoon ride to Cromwell via the Lindal Pass, where we passed upwards of 20 vintage Bugatti cars. An international Bugatti rally in NZ with cars from all over the world. Apparently this was their second last day, having done both the North and South Islands. http://bugatti-nz.blogspot.co.nz
After Lindal Pass the weather started to close in, with squalls on the hills and rain threatening. M & U decided it was going to be too wet to camp so we ended up in a B and B they'd stayed last week with Sarah.
Dinner at a Thai restaurant in Cromwell.
Tomorrow looks like weather will be even wetter. We plan on heading via Wanaka  to the Haast pass and the East Coast where some better weather is predicted from Tuesday onward. We shall see!
