Esperance to Woorlba Homestead Rest Area

8am start. Cloudy. Woken at 4:30am first light as we are now much further east.
More wheat country, but increasing signs of salt water encroachment as we progress north.
Catch M & U about 30km short of Norseman.
Coffee and shop for supplies for the traversal of the Nullarbor.
Hit the road planning to stop for lunch at Fraser Range Rest Area – about 80km out of Norseman. As we leave Norseman we notice a large (20+) contingent of Police at the side of the road. Looking like they're setting up some sort of road block/check point for traffic coming from the east.

30km out of Norseman as we are settling in to cruising using out throttle locks my bike cuts out. Turns out that I'd hit the 'Kill' switch by mistake! A few anxious moments there before I'd worked out the problem!

At lunch break we chat to an older couple from Perth on their way to Adelaide. They tell us about the good/bad old days before the Nullarbor road was sealed. 4 days of dusty hell they reckon.

After lunch we start to pass large groups of bikies heading west. At least 50+ pass us before we reach Balladonia Roadhouse, where there are at least another 50 occupying the service station. A large party of the Outlaw club are heading towards Perth. Now we know what the cops were doing in Norseman!

48km more down the Eyre Highway to our 1st overnight spot - Woorlba Homestead Rest Area – just after the start of the longest section of straight road in Australia. 146 odd km straight as an arrow. Nice!
